EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement
Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is a simple but efficient therapy using bilateral stimulation (BLS) ─ meaning the stimulation moves between both sides of the brain. We do this with hand held tappers, auditory tones or eye movement ─ to accelerate the brain's capacity to process and heal a traumatic memory. EMDR is effective in alleviating trauma-related symptoms, whether the traumatic event occurred many years ago or yesterday.

The good news is our brains are naturally equipped to work through difficult and challenging experiences. However, when traumatic experiences happen our brain and body often become frozen with the traumatic image along with the emotion experienced and they become locked together. When we recall the traumatic event we are faced with overwhelming emotions as if the event is repeating itself. This is sometimes called, Flashbacks, or PTSD symptoms.

EMDR is a remarkable psychotherapy technique that has been very successful in helping people who suffer from trauma, anxiety and panic disorders, disturbing memories, posttraumatic stress and many other types of disorders.

With the utilization of EMDR Therapy, I hope to help my clients fully process disturbing images and the emotions that are linked together and appropriately store them in the brain without the emotional charge it once had. It is a very useful therapy for people who find it difficult to share their painful memories, as I don’t need “the story” in order to help client process their memories. We can get the Work done without re-traumatizing you!
